  1. The panning of the camera was super shaky, as well as some other parts of the documentary. I didn't like the natural noise and the voice echoing at first, but I think it really fit with the place and the story and I really started to enjoy it. Just some very shaky camera movement - watch that because it can definitely give headaches! other than that, i loved the editing! and it really kept it interesting.

  2. The pans are not really smooth so it could have been better. You should have used a tripod for the B-roll like you do in the interview.

  3. Very great documentary approach, I like the idea behind it. A lot of the shots were out of focus and the audio had a really bad echo.

  4. The panning needed some better camera control. I would have lowered the outside noise to hear the people much more clearly. The questions were good

  5. Your documentary featured an interesting subject, and I enjoyed learning about the maker's movement. I would have used more tripod shots and less handheld for the B-roll.

  6. There are a lot of abrupt cuts in the sounds that are very jarring. There was also a lot of background noise that was very distracting. Adding some background music under all the sounds and gradual sound changes would help fix it. There are some blurry clips. The way the interview was set up was also awkward, the interviewer is halfway off the screen.

  7. Great topic, I loved the amount of b-roll you had it really added to the project. The only thing I really would be picky about is the audio, it could stand to be fine tuned a little more.

  8. Great video. The store you guys went to was very interesting to learn about. I wish the audio would have been less echoey if you would have given the interviewer and guest a mic. The recording of the shots around the store were a little shaky, but the concept was good!

  9. I'm not sure if you used a tripod for the pans but they should be slow and smooth. Half the speed you would normally look. The B-roll should all use a tripod. If you would have used a lav mic you wouldn't have the room echo in your audio clips. It sounds like you maxed out on the peaks so you should've taken down the master volume in your editing.

  10. I think the subject of the documentary is very interesting, and I really like how you guys show tons of examples of people working on various projects and the space itself. Overall, I can say this has made me interested in checking out Make South Bend further. There are a few issues with focus and at times the camera is jostling around a bit too much. Next times, maybe try the warp stabilizer in editing if you are unable to get more steady shots, and always make sure to focus on the subject before recording. Nonetheless, great job!

  11. I think that you told the story well, but the technical execution could have been improved. There were several spots where we could see jump cuts and those spots should have been covered by b-roll to hide it. I also wish you would have used a microphone on your subject. The focus on some of the b-roll shots was distracting, it looked like the camera was on auto.

  12. I liked the content you had. I'm sure a lot of us were interested in what Make South Bend was and I think you achieved that part. I will say the camera movement was shaky (warp stabilizer tool works great!), and the audio had an echo... (I realize the space you were in might have had a bit to do with that).
